MAXVILLE FAIR

MAXVILLE, ONTARIO

JUNE 21st, 2008

The ground was shaking in Maxville as Ontairo Demolition Derby opened the eastern schedule at the Maxville Fair.

After several years on a soft grass track, the Maxville Fairboard offered up the parking lot for the 08 event.  The crowd was not disapointed.

To start things off it was Joe Duperon taking the first checkered flag of the night a win in the opening figure 8 race, while Kevin Noel took the 2nd race in a controversial decision.  There were some disputes related to over agressive driving, which will be addressed at the next event.

The full size drivers took to the track first, and both Marty Kovacs and David Gravelle took heat wins, with Joe Menard, Frank Faubert, Alain Brennan,  and Michael Hotte collecting Runner Up points.

Chris Boyer lost a drive shaft in the opening heat, but made up for it by taking the 1 and only feature position available in the consolation heat.

The feature heat quickly turned into a 3 car race, involving Marty Kovacs, David Gravelle  and Joe Menard, each fighting it out for the top position.  In the end it was Kovacs plastering Menard against the bocks from the length of the track which caused a stoppage by the officials, putting Kovacs in winners circle. 

The 4 Cylinder event brought out some bad blood, resulting in some pretty devastating hits, as well as some close driver door calls.  In the end it was Glenn "Angry Monkey" Collier finishing off the competition to take the top spot.  Steve Begin and Matt Caswell finished in the runner up positions.
